A Citizen's Guide to Ragnarok

Book1: Gods in Low Places

Astrid serves greasy chicken in a neighbourhood ruled by the sadistic and vengeful gods of Asgard. She hooks up with “Doug,” a handsome stranger with a divine secret and a half-assed plan to incite Ragnarok, the end of the gods. Astrid becomes an agent of the apocalypse, assigned impossible missions like getting a date for a phallic-obsessed god of fire, battling wits with an immortal liquor inspector and figuring out what to say when a drunken deity texts, “u up?”

Now, the only thing standing in the way of a successful Ragnarok is pathological incompetence of Doug, the man leading it. Astrid teams with a bitter, underpaid priestess, a deviant dwarf, a fashion-diva elf, a half-dead girl and a hundred-and-ninety-year-old virgin, declaring war on the gods— and hoping the gods don’t find out.

BIO

Josh Hines is a writer, counsellor and obedient servant of two cats. He frequently ponders life-defining questions such as, "Why did I come into this room?" and "Am I too old to start a boy band?"

In his time on Earth, he managed to get a diploma in journalism, a BA in psychology, change careers five or six times and learn the value of a dollar (Answer: After taxes, the value of a dollar is seventy cents). Some would say his varied history makes him well-rounded. Others point out that he still has a lot of edges.
